HandHeld Entertainment launches an online casting contest to find the world’s dorkiest person;
contestants should submit audition videos online for the chance to become a star
SAN FRANCISCO and NEW YORK – June 11, 2007 – HandHeld Entertainment™ (NASDAQ: ZVUE) and Ckrush Entertainment (OTC BB: CKRH) invite actors of all levels to embrace their inner dork for a chance at a breakout role in the upcoming feature film “LiveMansion: The Movie.”
“LiveMansion: The Movie” will have a role called “Dork.” Anyone who wants to play the role of “Dork” in the movie can create a video audition acting as the role of “Dork” and submit the video (two minutes in length or shorter) to www.dorks.com/charactercontest.php for a chance to act in the film.
The free “Dork” casting contest began online on June 4 and will end on July 10, 2007. Online voting for the best “Dork” contestant begins today. Both contestants and voters must be a registered member of either Dorks.com™ or FunMansion.com™ to enter, although membership registration is free. (Complete contest rules can be found online at www.dorks.com/charactercontest.php.)
“Every person has a little dork in them, some more than others, and we are searching for the actor who embraces their ‘dorkiness’ and sells it best on camera” said Jeff Oscodar, president and CEO of HandHeld Entertainment. “And what better place to look for the ultimate dork than at Dorks.com? This contest is a great chance for anyone to win a role in a professionally produced feature film and for everyone to enjoy the auditions. As Ckrush is the first company in the film industry to cast a movie with online auditions, HandHeld Entertainment – and especially Dorks.com – could not pass up a chance to aid in the search for the ultimate dork to add to the film’s list of wild characters.”
The contest is designed to give experienced and aspiring actors the unique opportunity to create a character based on the word “dork” for “LiveMansion: The Movie.” The “LiveMansion” hopefuls should create a short video acting as the “Dork” character and upload the video to www.dorks.com/charactercontest.php for a chance to win a speaking part in the groundbreaking film. Created by Ckrush as the first feature film produced by a social network, “LiveMansion: The Movie” infuses the experience and celebrity of current Hollywood actors, producers and other talent with the modern twist of an online community of filmmakers, actors, directors and film fans.
As part of the launch of the first movie ever produced by a social network, HandHeld Entertainment, a global digital entertainment company, and Ckrush Entertainment, a subsidiary of Ckrush, Inc. have joined forces to promote the film and cast the newest character.
“We’re positive that out of the millions of proud and loyal ‘dorks’ who visit HandHeld Entertainment’s Web sites every month we will find some prime candidates for this particular character,” said Jeremy Dallow, president of Ckrush. “When the idea came to us of creating a ‘Dork’ character it seemed like an ideal fit to promote and cast this character through Dorks.com. The HandHeld network of Web sites allows us to powerfully promote this groundbreaking search and ultimately give the online voting community the best selection of dorks from which to choose. We are eager to see the outrageous and funny auditions videos we receive for this character.”
